What we consider
Depending on the product, we may assess design, materials, finish, usability, versatility, price, brand context and the strength of comparable alternatives.
First-hand experience
Where an article is based on first-hand use, handling or attendance, that context should be stated in the article. Where it is based on documented product information, imagery, brand material or wider market research, the writing should not imply physical testing that did not take place.
Samples and access
If a product is gifted, loaned or supplied for review, or if access is provided by a brand, that relationship should be disclosed. Such access does not guarantee favourable coverage.
Affiliate links
A review may contain affiliate links. These can generate commission for Clutched but do not change the price paid by the reader or determine the editorial conclusion.
Our conclusion
We do not use a universal numerical scoring system. Conclusions are expressed in context, including who the product may suit, its limitations and whether we would consider buying it.
