The Belted Ergo is the strongest of the patterned bags. Its curved shoulder shape, vachetta leather framing and central dogleash clip give the jacquard some order rather than letting it cover the bag without interruption.
Coach says the design draws on its archive, but the bag does not depend on that history to make sense. The leather straps guide the eye, the hardware creates a clear focal point and the Signature pattern sits within the design rather than dominating it.
It feels more resolved than a simple all-over monogram and makes a useful contrast with the Empire’s more restrained use of leather.
